I have read many of De Waal's books and followed his research for years. His work has influenced my understanding of human development and has been incorporated into my teaching. I was privileged to meet and talk with him many years ago. He was approachable, friendly, and easy to talk with. I am grateful for that small moment in time with him. The world will feel his influence for years to come. My condolences to his wife, family, and friends. May they find warmth and comfort in the memories he left.
