I had the amazing privilege of taking Dr. De Waal's PSYCH 325 at Emory in Spring of 2019. His passion for the field of primatology was highly contagious and always inspired curiosity in the classroom. Despite such vast accomplishments, I always found him to be a humble and down to earth fellow. I only wish I would've taken more of his courses and gotten to know him better. I give my sincerest condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed. His legacy will continue to resonate through the generations of scholars and enthusiasts he has influenced, reminding us of the boundless wonder of the natural world and the profound connections that unite us with our fellow creatures.
