I am very saddened to hear about the loss of such a bright scientist and exceptional person with rare human qualities. Frans made valuable contributions to primate behavior research and mentored many students in his field. Although I am not a scientist and never met him, I was only one of his fans on social media and reader of his books. He always answered my layman questions with patience and kindness. He was such a modest and graceful person, a very rare one. His legacy will live on and he will be remembered with respect and fond feelings. My deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and science community. May God rest Him in peace.
