Frans and I shared a great love of elephants, after I spent 13 years doing full-time voluntary conservation work with wild, free-roaming, elephants in Hwange, Zimbabwe from 2001 to 2014 (documented in a highly acclaimed memoir titled ELEPHANT DAWN). But it was a wild Rainbow Lorikeet photograph that I took, after fleeing Zimbabwe, on my balcony railing on the Sunshine Coast in Australia in 2021, which Frans kindly shared with his 750K followers on 17 August 2021, with this caption --------- "CHEEKY PARROT
Up close photo by Sharon Pincott, from her balcony in Queensland. She provides water to these native birds, for drinking and bathing. No food."
I felt proud to have been acknowledged by such a notable and beloved wildlife lover and photographer. Rest in peace Frans. Gone from this world too soon - but having achieved so very much.
