Thanks to the publishing company Karneval Förlag I found Frans de Waal and his books. I think it was in 2013, Frans de Waal visited the Book Fair in Gothenburg. A big event with famous writers. There in a calm corner I met him where he signed his books at Karneval förlag. He signed his book about Bonobos and moral. Arter that as I was tired, I sat down on the floor and contemplated that ”here we are, one of the greatest primate researchers and me”. As a biologist and conservationist it felt good. I knew this was a special moment in my life: Since more than 10 years he and his books have kept me hopeful and helped me to understand what is happening and what can happen, in the human world. I have found comfort reading about bonobo’s and started to make donations to Loyola sa Bonobo, the orphanage for bonobo babies and young ones.
